The DBOS is a study examining the development of mental health conditions in children of parents with bipolar disorder, aiming to identify risk factors. Beginning in 1997, the study involved 140 participants from the Netherlands, aged 12 to 21. Participants have been followed up at 1-year, 5-year, 12-year, and 22-year intervals, with 100 of the participants involved in the most recent 22-year follow-up conducted between 2020 and 2021.
