The Diamond Cohort Study aimed to explore the experiences of depression in the primary care setting, to inform general practices how best to support people experiencing depression, stress, or worries in the community. It was established in January 2005 and began recruiting patients with depressive symptomology from 30 randomly selected general practices in Victoria, Australia, until December 2005. A total of 789 participants were involved in baseline interviews. Interview follow-ups occurred at 12 and 24 months, and postal-surveys at 3, 6,9, 24, and 36 months post-baseline assessments. The study lasted a decade, until 2015.
