The DIMAMO HDSS, previously known as the Dikgale HDSS, includes approximately 116,000 participants from the Eastern Region of Capricorn District in Limpopo Province in South Africa and is part of the South African Population Research Infrastructure Network (SAPRIN). The study aims to assess demographic dynamics and health outcomes to inform public health policies and interventions. Participants primarily consist of rural residents who were initially recruited through household visits in 1996, with expansions in 2010 and 2018 to include more individuals. Initially, the study began with 8,071 participants, expanded to 42,000 in 2010, and reached approximately 100,000 by 2019, with participants being followed up three times annually.
