Sample details

The DNB is based on the samples submitted to Statens Serum Institut (SSI) either in the form of project samples from various external or internal research projects or in the form of routine tests. With some exemptions, most samples are available for use in research projects and some are simply stored by SSI on behalf of an external institution. The biobank stores more than 1 million new samples per year, PKU cards including blood spots from all newborn Danes since 1982 (more than 2 million samples) and SSI legacy collections (more than 4 million samples).
