Sample details

The Dynamics of Motherhood project is one of the Timescapes qualitative longitudinal studies. This study follows first-time mothers and their families from late pregnancy until two years after the birth of their first child. The study builds on an earlier project (ESRC Making of Modern Motherhoods 2005-2007), by following 6 of the 12 intergenerational case studies of the original study for a further two years. Case studies were selected from the original sample of 62 mothers, recruited from a new town and an inner city suburb, in the South of England.
