DORIAN-PISAC was a longitudinal research project based in Pisa, Italy, that investigated the relationship between maternal health, infant gut microbiota, and cognitive development. Between 2011 and 2014, 90 families were recruited during the first trimester of pregnancy or at delivery through hospital visits. At birth, data were collected from infants and parents, including parental intelligence assessments. Infants were then followed up at 6, 12, 18, 24, 36, and 60 months of age for assessments of cognitive development and microbiota composition.
