DUPARC is a prospective cohort study of 150 newly diagnosed Parkinson's disease (PD) patients who were treatment-naïve at baseline, to discover and validate biomarkers for PD subtypes, progression and pathophysiology, with particular focus on cognition, gastrointestinal function and vision. Participants were recruited between 2017 and 2020 via a collaborative network of PD treating neurologists in the northern part of the Netherlands. After comprehensive baseline assessments, the patients were re-assessed after 1 year and 3 years, with the intention of an extended follow-up with 3-year intervals.
