Sample details

This study is part of the GAGE-BD project, which aims to study the trajectory of bipolar disorder (BD) with age. This study specifically aimed to understand differences in the process of cognitive ageing and the factors that might predict who will have more loss of cognitive ability with age. The study recruited over 170 adults aged 25 and older from the greater San Diego area (United States of America), including individuals with clinically-relevant symptoms of mood dysregulation, as indicated by Bipolar I diagnosis, and similarly aged non-BD comparison participants without mental illness. Participants were assessed over two-week periods, repeated annually for three years in the BD group, and at one year in the NC group, from 2016 to 2019.
