The DZHW PhD Panel 2014 tracked the careers of doctoral graduates in Germany over a 10-year period. The study recruited individuals of any age who successfully obtained a doctorate from a German higher education institution in 2014. Over 5,000 individuals participated in baseline data collection, representing one in five PhD graduates in 2014. Participants were followed up annually from 2016 to 2024, resulting in ten total waves of data collection. The DZHW PhD Panel is succeeded by the National Academics Panel Study (NACAPS), which continues to follow the careers of doctoral candidates and holders in Germany.
