Sample details

E3N is part of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC-Europe) and is designed to investigate health outcomes in women in France. E3N recruited women in France born between 1925 and 1950 who were insured by Mutuelle Générale de l'Education Nationale (MGEN). At baseline, over 98,000 women participated in the study. Participating women were of varying education levels, socioeconomic situations, and regions of France. Follow up assessments have been conducted every two to three years amounting to 13 waves of data collection over 34 years. In 2014, the partners, children, and grandchildren of participating women were recruited in to the E3N-Generations study.
