The objectives of the current study were to reduce the abortion rate and the incidence of complications of abortion in China; to provide more appropriate, safe, and effective abortion services for different demographic characteristics; and to improve the reproductive health of women of childbearing age in the future. Women who experienced induced abortion in early pregnancy (less than 12 weeks of gestation) were included in this study from May 2019 in ten maternal and child health hospitals of seven provinces in China.
