Sample details

The EGDS investigates children's development using a sample of 561 adopted children and their biological and adoptive families, including siblings and parents. The sample includes diverse racial and demographic backgrounds, with children placed for adoption at a median age of two days. In the more recent part of the study, participants from the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcome (ECHO) Program have also been included in the study. Baseline assessment began in 2010, and participants have been followed up at various times throughout the study, when the adopted children are aged nine months to eight years.
