EHAAS is an ongoing longitudinal birth cohort study of the effects of environmental exposures on the risk of allergy and asthma in children born to parents with histories of allergies and/or asthma. Between September 1994 and June 1996, families from metropolitan Boston (MA) were recruited at a major Boston hospital during the immediate post-natal period after the birth of the index child. Just over 500 children were enrolled in the study. Every 2 months, the primary caregiver was asked a follow-up telephone questionnaire.
