The EHE-BE study aimed to examine the effects of combined oral contraceptives (CoCs) on risk for binge eating in women and determine if only those women who are at genetic risk experience CoCs as risky for binge eating. Participants were around 1,000 female twin individuals between the ages of 15 and 30 years recruited through the Michigan State University Twin Registry (MSUTR) in the United States of America. The study ran from 2017 to 2022. Participants completed 49 days of daily questionnaires to assess day-to-day changes in mood and eating behaviour, and three additional assessments immediately before (intake assessment), during (intermediate assessment, day 23 of questionnaires), and after (final assessment) the period of daily questionnaires.
