Sample details

ENVIRONAGE is a longitudinal birth cohort study collecting in-depth molecular measures, environmental exposures, and clinical phenotyping from over 2,000 children born in the province of Limburg in Belgium. From February 2010 onward, mother-newborn pairs are invited to the study when they arrive for delivery at the East-Limburg Hospital in Genk, Belgium. Mothers without a planned caesarean section and who are able to fill out a Dutch-language questionnaire are eligible for the cohort. The average age of mothers in the cohort is 29.4 years. Children are first assessed at birth and followed up at ages 4–6 and pre-adolescence. Among the children, 48.9% were born female.
