Epidemiology of Dementia in Central Africa (EPIDEMCA) was designed to investigate the prevalence of dementia and related syndromes in the Central African Republic and the Republic of Congo. The study began with two cross-sectional surveys across four sites in the Central African Republic and the Republic of Congo. Longitudinal follow-up of the 1029 participants in the Republic of Congo began in 2012 and was conducted as part of EPIDEMCA-FU. Participants were followed up annually between 2012 and 2015.
