This study aimed to follow a cohort of children with epilepsy between the ages of 1 years and 18 years with epilepsy who attended Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH) in Papua New Guinea. and document its nature and extent, associated comorbidities, access to treatment, the adequacy of seizure control, the quality of life and developmental opportunities and the difficulties faced by them and their families. Follow-up occurred monthly if the seizures were poorly controlled, or every 2–3 months for other children, depending on parents’ availability and the distance they lived from the hospital. The cohort consisted of just under 50 children with epilepsy.
