BACK
Sample details

The EPINEF study was based on six prospective community-based cohorts in South Korea (four pre-existing and two newly established cohorts). The pre-existing cohorts included the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES) in Gangwha, the Korean Urban Rural Elderly cohort in Seoul, the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases Etiology Research Center cohort in Seoul, and the Seoul incinerator cohort. The new cohorts were based in Namdong-gu, Incheon and Wonju/Pyeongchang (rural areas). All participants are aged 50 years and older, with no self-reported history of dementia, movement disorders, or stroke. Recruitment was conducted during the baseline survey period from August 2014 to March 2018. A neuroimaging sub-cohort was also recruited with 1,022 participants during the same period.
