The EPIPARK cohort was set up in 2010 to examine the specificity of non-motor symptoms presented in Parkinson's Disease. Screening questionnaires were sent out to a random selection of 10,000 inhabitants of Luebeck, Germany, aged 50 to 79 years in 2010. Of these inhabitants, the target was to obtain a cohort of differing health statuses to act as controls against the disease group. Approximately 6,000 completed questionnaires were returned, and over 600 were invited for an in-person examination. Follow-ups are conducted yearly for all participants.
