The Esprit Study is a neuropsychiatric cohort study of community-dwelling people aged 65 years and over drawn at random from the electoral rolls of Montpellier in the south of France. Participants were recruited between 1999 and 2001 and have been reassessed at baseline, as well as after 2, 4, 7, 10, 12, and 15 years. The mean age of the whole sample was 73 years, and it comprised 58.5% women and 41.5% men.
