FCBT is a hospital biobank that collects and stores samples from patients and individuals within three hospital districts in Finland: Pirkanmaa, South Ostrobothnia, and Kanta-Häme. The Biobank specializes in oncological, paediatric, pregnancy, neurological, ophthalmological, and psychiatric sample collections. As of 2024, the biobank has collected various sample types, including blood samples from around 53,000 individuals collected since 2016, and pathology diagnostic tissue samples from over 400,000 individuals, collected since 1963. Sample donors can be re-contacted for follow-up studies, and biobank samples can be linked with health records from several registers.
