The FIES is a nationwide sample survey in the Philippines that gathers data on family income, family living expenditure and related information affecting family income, sources of income, and family expenditure, including cost and consumption volumes. Between 1957 and 1975, the survey was conducted every five years, and since 1985, it has been conducted every three years. The number of households surveyed varies with each wave, and some households participate in multiple waves. Since FIES began, twenty surveys have been conducted to date.
