Sample details

FReDA aims to explore how people in Germany live, how they organise their daily lives in their relationships, and how satisfied they are with their lives. The study collects data about the living situations of partnerships and families in Germany. Participants consist of two samples. The first includes participants aged 18 to 49 years randomly selected in 2020, who are also participating in another survey, the Generations and Gender Survey (GGS). The second is a cohort consisting of previous participants of the Panel Analysis of Intimate Relationships and Family Dynamics (pairfam) study, which has now been integrated into FReDA. In wave 1, over 37,000 GGS sample participants completed the survey, and in wave 2, an additional 6,000 were added from the pairfam sample. Wave 1 began in 2021, and participants are being followed up every 6 months.
