Sample details

GAPi was established in 2011 as a research and assistance centre for individuals in the early stages of psychosis in São Paulo, Brazil. In addition to providing early intervention services, the centre aims to longitudinally evaluate biological biomarkers, including genetics, immune markers, and neuroimaging. The GAPi cohort includes over 350 participants aged 16 to 40 years presenting to an Emergency Unit of a psychiatric facility in São Paulo, experiencing a first episode of psychosis and who have not received prior treatment with antipsychotics. As part of the study, participants are provided with treatment through the GAPi clinic and research evaluation assessments at two months, one year, two years and five years into treatment.
