BACK
Sample details

The GENDER study aims to examine the gender differences in health behaviour and health among the elderly across Sweden. Beginning in 1994, the study included 605 pairs of unlike-sex twins from the Swedish Twin Registry, with participants born between 1906 and 1925. Participants were followed up four times, with the first follow-up between 1995 and 1997, and the second between 1999 and 2001, both including almost 500 participants. A third follow-up was conducted between 2003 and 2005, and a final follow-up in 2007 included 356 of the original participants.
