The GESIS Panel is a social science data infrastructure serving both primary and secondary researchers in Germany. It consists of two samples: the GESIS Panel.pop and the GESIS Panel.dbd. The GESIS Panel.dbd combines an online survey with collecting and linking digital behavioural data, such as web tracking data. Participants include the German-speaking adult population with permanent residence in Germany. Between 2023 and 2024, a random-based sample was recruited from the German General Social Survey (ALLBUS), the GESIS Panel.pop, a population registration office sample (EMA), and the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES). Since 2023, a non-random-based sample has also been recruited via expressions of interest and social media. As of July 2024, approximately 7,000 participants have participated, and data are collected at three to six waves per year.
