The study began in 2012 with around 1,600 participants, and was supplemented by new participants in 2014 and 2018. As of 2025, there are over 3,500 active participants. Since 2012, surveys have been conducted bi-monthly, with a core wave taking place annually. As of 2025, the GIP is conducting its 80th survey wave.
