The Girl BAND study aimed to examine trajectories of cognitive, behavioural, social–emotional, and brain development in child and adolescent females with fragile X syndrome (FXS) and their developmentally-matched peers. Participants included 65 girls with confirmed diagnosis of FXS and 52 girls in a comparison group. All participants were between the ages of 6 and 16 years at baseline and recruited from across the United States of America. Baseline assessment began in 2017 and participants were assessed three times in total, around 12 to 18 months apart.
