The Glostrup Population Studies are population-based cohort studies performed in the western part of Greater Copenhagen, Denmark, since 1964. The studies are health examination studies with clinical and biochemical data and data from questionnaires and interviews. In 1967, the 1897 cohort was initiated to investigate somatic medical, psychological, psychiatric, and social medical conditions of persons aged 70 years. All individuals born in 1897 in nine selected municipalities were invited for a health examination. Follow-up examinations were conducted at ages 80 and 85 years.
