GOCS investigated the links between dietary patterns, growth, and obesity in a cohort of Chilean children. The study recruited children aged 2 - 4 from nursery schools in low-middle-income southeastern Santiago, Chile counties. The recruited participants were singletons weighing over 2.5 kg, and their mothers consented to their participation in the study. At baseline, over 1,100 children were enrolled in the study. Participants were followed up at baseline in 2006 and at 1, 5, and 8 years after commencement of the study.
