The Gothenburg mild cognitive impairment (MCI) study, launched in 1999, is a single-center clinical-pathophysiologic study investigating early and manifest phases of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and vascular dementia (VaD). Patients are referred to the memory clinic at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Mölndal, Sweden. Patients are aged between 50 and 79 years, have a mini mental state examination (MMSE) result above 18, present with self- or informant-reported cognitive decline, and have a duration of cognitive decline of 6 months or more. All participants are examined at baseline and after 2, 4, 6, and 10 years.
