GPC monitors the health demographic dynamics of a rural population in Uganda. Participants are residents of all ages and sexes from the Kyamulibwa sub-county in the Kalungu district. Since its inception, the study has continued to enrol participants, growing from 8,000 to over 15,000 participants in 3,700 households in 2011 and 22,000 in 2024, to better capture the evolving demographic and health trends. The cohort is followed up annually through comprehensive surveys to monitor changes and gather new data.
