The Growing Up in Ireland study began in 2008 with two cohorts: the '08 Cohort of 9-month-old infants (the 'Infant Cohort'), and the '98 Cohort of 9-year-old children (the 'Child Cohort'). The Infant Cohort comprises a nationally representative sample of 11,000 infants born in 2008 in Ireland, and their families. The children are being followed approximately every 2-4 years.
