The Growing Up in Ireland study began in 2008 with two cohorts: the '08 Cohort of 9-month-old infants (the 'Infant Cohort'), and the '98 Cohort of 9-year-old children (the 'Child Cohort'). The Child Cohort comprises a nationally representative sample of 8,500 children born in 1998 in Ireland. The children were sampled from different primary schools across the country, and are being followed approximately every 2-4 years.
