Gulf CARE is a prospective, multinational, multicentre registry of patients admitted with the diagnosis of acute heart failure (AHF) to 47 hospitals in seven Middle Eastern countries. Data from 5,005 AHF patients admitted to 47 hospitals in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen during February to November 2012 were analysed. The mean age of registry patients was 59 years at baseline; 63% were males, and 83% were Gulf citizens. Patients were followed up by telephone at 3 months and either by telephone or by a clinic visit at 1 year.
