Sample details

H85 is one of the Gothenburg H70 Birth Cohort Studies and includes three representative samples of 85-year-olds recruited from the Swedish Population Register in 1986, 2008, and 2015. The first cohort of 85-year-olds was recruited in 1986 and included 962 individuals born in 1901-02. The second cohort was recruited in 2008 and comprised 571 participants born in 1923-1924. The third cohort includes 491 participants born in 1930 who were first examined in 2015-16. All three cohorts have been followed up every 2 to 5 years, and the oldest cohort has been followed for 20 years until age 103. The examination procedures in each cohort have been retained as identical as possible and include cognitive, psychiatric, neurobiological and physical health examinations.
