HAGIS is the first comprehensive Scottish study to follow individuals aged 50 years and above over time. The study has completed a pilot study, from which the sample is reflective of Scotland's population with most participants living in urban areas, the majority born in the United Kingdom and most identifying as predominantly Scottish. Following the pilot, the study aims to recruit and re-interview participants at intervals of two years.
