Sample details

The HALST is a longitudinal study recruiting community dwellers aged 55 and above in seven selected areas in Taiwan. In the first-wave survey (2009–2013), 5664 community-dwellers aged 55 or above were enrolled. After enrolment, those who completed both home interviews and hospital-based examinations were followed up by telephone contact every year for updates on vital status and health-related conditions. Furthermore, home interviews and hospital-based clinical examinations were conducted every 5 years.
