Hamamatsu Birth Cohort for Mothers and Children (HBC Study)

The HBC Study was designed to elucidate the early developmental trajectories of children living in the community in Japan. The cohort is comprised of mothers who were recruited while in their first or second trimester of pregnancy, through attending the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Hospital of Hamamatsu University School of Medicine or the Kato Maternity Clinic between November 2007 and March 2011. The final study cohort included 1,258 neonates (including 38 twins) from 1,138 mothers.
