HEARTS is a longitudinal study investigating the transition from work to retirement and its influence on health and wellbeing in older Swedish residents. In 2015, the study recruited adults residing in Sweden who were born between 1949 and 1955 from the Swedish population register. At baseline, the cohort consisted of over 5,900 individuals, and participants have been followed up annually since the inception of the study, amounting to nine waves of data collection so far.
