The HELIUS Study follows a cohort of over 24,000 adult participants of Surinamese, Ghanaian, Turkish, Moroccan, and Dutch origin living in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Participants were randomly sampled, stratified by ethnic origin, through the municipality register of Amsterdam. Additionally, up to three family members also living in Amsterdam were invited to participate allowing for multigenerational data collection.
