The Helsinki Aging Study is a prospective cohort study that recruited a random sample of people from a national registry in Helsinki, Finland. At recruitment in 1989, study participants were in one of three age cohorts, aged 75, 80, and 85 years and followed for four years. Additional samples were recruited in 1999, 2009, and 2019 and aged 75, 80, 85, 90, and 95 years.
