Sample details

The Henan Rural Cohort follows over 39,000 adults aged between 18 and 79 years across five rural regions in the Henan province of China. A multistage, stratified cluster sampling method was used. Firstly, rural counties were selected from different geographical regions of the province. Secondly, one to three rural communities within each region were selected. Finally, all permanent residents in each rural village within these communities were approached to participate.
