Sample details

The Hippocampal-Memory Network Development and Episodic Memory in Early Childhood study aims to investigate the developmental changes in the hippocampal subregion volume from early to mid-childhood. The study recruited 200 children between 4 and 8 years old to create an accelerated cohort. Participants were separated into 5 cohorts based on age. The 4-year-old and 6-year-old cohorts were followed longitudinally, whilst the 5, 7and, 8, and 8-year-old cohorts were assessed once. All participants were born at full-term, had normal or corrected to normal vision, and had no existing diagnosis of developmental delay, neurological conditions or disabilities. Participants were from various ethnicities, including Caucasian, African-American, Asian and multi-racial, as well as various income levels and parental education backgrounds.
