BACK
Sample details

This territory-wide population-based study began in 1990 with the aim of investigating the relationship between social, physical, lifestyle, and health factors on multiple health outcomes in a cohort of elderly Chinese aged 70 years and over. The cohort, comprising 2,032 subjects, was selected by stratified random sampling from a registered list of all recipients of old age and disability allowances in Hong Kong. After the baseline face-to-face interview, the cohort was followed with a telephone interview at 18 months, a face-to-face interview at 36 months, and further periodic telephone interviews over time.
