Sample details

HCS is a population-based cohort study conducted in Hoveyzeh County in South-west Iran, focusing on common chronic diseases, disorders, and risk factors of non-communicable diseases in the Arab ethnicity. A total of just above 10,000 participants (35-70 years old) were recruited from May 2016 to August 2018. Biological samples including blood, urine, hair, and nail were collected and stored in the biobank. The follow-up is conducted annually for at least 15 years after enrolment, including active follow-up (telephone call) and passive follow-up (self-reporting and report of death and disease by registration centres).
