The Hisayama Study is a population-based cohort study conducted in Hisayama town, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. The 1974 Cohort 2 began in 1974 and included over 2,000 participants aged 40 or older from Hisayama town. Participants included approximately 75% of the town's residents aged 40 or older. Participants are followed up every 5 years through health examinations and interviews until death or until the end of the Hisayama study.
