HUMIS is a continuing birth cohort study involving mothers and their newborns across five representative counties in Norway: Rogaland, Telemark, Troms, Finmark, and Oppland. Recruitment occurred during routine visits by health visitors, typically taking place about two weeks after birth. Participants included mothers fluent in Norwegian residing within the geographical area served by the recruiting health visitors. Mothers varied in age, ranging between 16 and 44 years, and children were followed from birth. Among the children, 49.3% were female.
