The HCS is a population-based prospective cohort study collecting multidisciplinary data on factors related to ageing in a cohort of around 3,000 older Australians. The cohort consists of individuals from the Hunter Region of New South Wales (NSW), Australia, who were aged 55 to 85 years at baseline in 2004 - 2007. The cohort have been followed-up through linkage, and with repeat questionnaires and a clinical assessment every 5 years.
