Sample details

ICONA investigates treatment outcomes in an Italian population of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) positive adults. The cohort recruited adults aged 18 or older who had tested positive for HIV and never received antiretroviral therapy from across Italy, encompassing a diverse group of the Italian HIV-positive population. Since its inception in 1997, the cohort continually enrolled new participants, reaching over 20,000 participants by 2023, to enhance the understanding of HIV treatment outcomes. Follow-ups were conducted every 4-6 months to monitor the participants’ health and treatment progress.
